The Christian Union is a group of students at Sussex University with two aims: to live for Jesus and to speak for Jesus (see our Vision Statement) What we're not... We're not a church ...alot of the things we do may be similar to what churches do, but we're not a church or a cell group, so we can't provide the support that all Christians need to grow, this is why it's important to find a local church We're not a social club ...CU is a great place to make friends and to do fun stuff together, but this isn't why we meet We're not a Christian dating agency ...you'll probably hear stories of people who met their spouses at CUs, it may happen to you! But this isn't why we meet What we are... We are a Student Union Society ...we're all students at Sussex University and are one of the most active SU societies on campus We are a Student-Led group ...unlike a church, we're led by a committee of students We are a Christian group ...although all our meetings are open to everyone, as a Christian group we profess Jesus Christ as our personal Lord and Saviour We are a United group ...we're a group made up from Christians from lots of different backgrounds and beliefs, but we are united around the core beliefs of Christianity as outlined in our Doctrinal Basis We are a Mission Team ...we believe that students at Sussex need to hear the Good News of Jesus Christ. The CU exists as the 'Missionary Arm' of the local churches, united around the truths of the Gospel and the need to express those truths. Jesus Christ calls each and every one of us to live for him during these few years we're here at Sussex University and we'd love for you to be involved in the things we do as a CU, to be part of the Mission Team. Whether you're a Christian or not, it would be great to see you at a main meeting or any other events . So do get in touch or come along, we would love to meet you! |
