Hi! I’m Phil and I am a second year Music student originally from Reading. I love good food, groovy tunes and Spikeball! This year, I have the privilege of being the Male President of the CU. This means that I, alongside Annie, serve the CU by helping to keep the main thing, the main thing – that is giving every student at Surrey the opportunity to hear and respond to the good news of Jesus! It has been such a joy and encouragement to be part of the CU over the past year, forming wonderful friendships; growing and serving alongside brothers and sisters in Christ and seeing lives transformed by the power of the Gospel! I’m so excited for CU this coming year and can’t wait to hear of students encountering Jesus through His Word and putting their trust in him! The CU really is a family and we’d love to welcome you in! Whether you consider yourself a Christian, you’re unsure what you believe or you’re a sceptic, we’d love to meet you – everyone is welcome! See you soon! 🙂
Hi! I’m Annie and I am a second year Child Nursing student originally from London. I love going for runs and always enjoy a good hot chocolate! This year I have the privilege of being female president of the CU, which basically means that I help to organise our main meetings and generally try to keep the vision of the CU central to all we do – quite simply to give every student on campus the opportunity to hear and respond to the good news of Jesus! There’s nothing more precious than Him! The CU is such a great place to be equipped to share Jesus and to be encouraged throughout the week. It really is like a big family and we are so excited to welcome you in – so please come and say hi!! Whether you have been a Christian for ages, you’re unsure where you are in your faith, or you simply are intrigued, we can’t wait to welcome you 🙂
Hey, I’m Emily and I am a second year Child Nursing student and come from a small town called Alton in Hampshire. I am the secretary of the CU which means lots of organising and admin for the CU. University is such an incredible opportunity to strengthen and grow your faith. I have found that the CU provides amazing support and infrastructure for you to be able to do this and equips you to share your faith with those around you. We also have the best community, is an amazing way to make friends and is so much fun!
Hello there! I’m Sam, a 2nd year Business Management (Marketing) student from East Grinstead. I love films, long walks and staying up ridiculously late with friends (and then disliking myself the next morning!) As Treasurer, my job is essentially to look after the finances for our society. Last year the CU really helped me to grow in my faith and I can’t wait to see others develop in their understanding of God! The CU is a great place to meet other Christians, worship and get involved in evangelism. It’s a fantastic community and we’d love for you to be a part of it!
Hey guys! I’m Maddie and I am a second year Sports Scientist from Luton in Bedfordshire. I love to play all types of sport, love a good Chicken Caesar salad and long chats! It has been amazing to be a part of the Christian Union this last year and to see people’s lives transformed by coming to know Jesus. CU is an opportunity to be part of an extended family at Uni and be able to worship God, get to know him more and make him known to every student on campus. So it is going to be a blast to see what God has got planned for this next year. I am really excited to take on the position of Outreach Coordinator, which involves the organisation and running of the events that we put on as a CU such as Freshers week, Carols, Events week and more! I’m super excited for the free bbq and short talk we are having during freshers week! So please know that no matter what background you are from, you are welcome at CU! If you have any questions feel free to get in contact! See you guys soon x
Hi my name is Deborah and I am a 2nd year Paediatric Student Nurse. Mine is a new role which is to basically encourage every single member of the CU to be faithful in prayer, organise times of prayer within the CU and other Christian societies and also to be someone that people can approach if they have a prayer request. Prayer is so important in our Christian walk. I am so passionate about people and by the fact that if we pray we will see God move and transform people’s lives. Our vision is to give every student on campus the opportunity to hear and respond to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Without prayer, it is impossible to truly listen to God and stay true to our vision. By God’s grace that is what I am here to help us do as a committee. Whether it is your 1st year or your final year at the University of Surrey, if you have never interacted with the CU before, I hope you pay us a visit. I can’t wait to meet YOU! See you soon x
Follow Up Coordinator
Hi I’m Hannah! I’m the follow up coordinator which means I get to meet you guys and chat more about all things Jesus whether that be at CU meetings, events, for coffee, or at a follow-up course. I’m currently studying nutrition and dietetics and have a massive passion for food! I’m really excited about the year ahead and welcoming you all to the CU community at Surrey. It had a massive impact on my faith first year and I hope it will have for you too! God bless
