Hi guys! My name is Leon. I’m a 2nd year Mechanical Engineer from Kingston Upon Thames, I always love a good burger and my favourite hand gesture is a thumbs up. This last year has been a real encouragement to see God working through His people on our campus, and it has been a real privilege to get stuck in to all that CU does. So, I’m extremely excited for the next coming year, where, we as a CU, can really grow in our knowledge and understanding of God and His Word so that we can expand our mission in sharing the amazing news of Christ Jesus with our friends!
Hey! I’m a 2nd year International Politics student from Liverpool. I’m so excited to see how God is going to work through the CU this year! I love Unite; where we meet as a CU to worship God, learn from His Word and catch up with friends. I also love being a part of the CU’s outreach events, it’s always so exciting to be able to tell so many students about the amazing gift of saving grace that Christ offers. I would definitely encourage Christian students at Surrey to get involved with the CU, it’s such a great opportunity and so much fun!
Hello everyone, I’m Joanna, a second-year automotive student from Tunbridge Wells in Kent. As secretary for the CU it’s my job to sort out admin, emails and basically just be organised (which is more fun than it sounds I promise)! Being at Uni is one of the best opportunities to tell your friends about the good news that Jesus brings, and being a part of the CU is a great way to do that. I can’t wait to see what God has in store for this next year!
Hiya, I’m Aaron, a second year Physics student from a little village in the south you’ve probably never heard of. Although I’m in charge of counting the money I’m also involved in the the general outreach and weekly events which is a real blessing to be involved in the CU coming together to socialise, worship and evangelise the Gospel. We have a great community here and I’d love to see it grow some more as more people get involved in what we do!
Aloha, I’m the outreach coordinator for this year, that means I am responsible for helping run and organise some of the outreach events run by the CU over the year. I have lived in Cyprus so can speak Turkish. My favourite outreach event last year was the BBQ because we had people dress up in stupid costumes for the sake of H&S, it was also really encouraging to see over 300 people come along and hear a talk!
Hey. I'm Esther and I am so psyched to see God's love changing lives on campus this year! My role is Follow-up coordinator, which means I get to help make space for people to respond to what they hear about Jesus through 1-1 coffees, follow-up courses and a weekly 'Coffee, Cake, and Chat event'. I am a Nutrition and Dietetics student, training to use food as a medicine and enjoying eating lots of it on the way! I mostly live in Birmingham (although do NOT have the accent (and no one does, it is a myth!)), although have worked and lived in Texas, and frequented France and Canada where much of my family are missionaries. I am so excited to meet you and would love to answer any questions you may have. Please feel free to get in touch.
Sup guys! I'm Sam and I'm the publicity coordinator which basically means I make flyers... and occasionally some videos (which is ideal because I do Film and Video Production Technology - the best course in the world). I love being part of the CU, not just for the banter, but also because we can meet together and learn more about how awesome God is and tell our friends about it too! Whether you've been a Christian all your life or haven't even touched a bible before, everyone is welcome! We'd love to see you there 🙂
Hi! I'm Joel Miller (aka Spanish Joel), a 2nd year International Business Management student born in Surrey and raised in Córdoba, Spain. I love getting to know new people, singing, meeting up for chats (anytime, day or night!) and sharing my love for Jesus with others! As International Coordinator, my job in the CU includes organising events for international students, including our weekly international event: Globe Café, a chilled environment where you can meet new people from all around the world, share food and enjoy a great evening. Looking forward to meeting you!
Small Groups Coordinator
Hey guys I’m Alex and I’m in my 5th and final year of Aerospace Engineering. I grew up on the best island in Kent, Sheppey, and I love planes and space. I’ll be helping run the Small Groups for the first years, where we will study the Bible, get to know one another and put on outreach events for the halls on campus – you should come along! I’m so excited to see what God has planned for the year – let’s share the awesome news of the Gospel to those at the University of Surrey!
